  • Christmas recap...

Jamie and I had a really great Christmas this year (not that any have been crappy, but this one was a little bitter-sweet since this will be the last Christmas with family for a few years).  We woke up super early (both of us are still jetlagged) and opened presents from each other.  Jamie bought me a ton of travel books and maps (places he plans to take me in Europe) and some DVDs that I really wanted.  I got him some Purdue shirts, a Purdue tie, noise cancelling earbuds, and an alarm clock.  He also went ahead and got us an AMAZING set of knives!  OMG...I am in love with these knives.  Japanese stainless steel, Calphalon Katana knives.  Seriously...phenomal.

Yeah...I'm a huge dork...I get excited about knives.

Today we're going to go to his sister's place for a family get-together, which should be good.  We're trying to make plans for the next week and a half that we have off.  We want to get out of the house a bit and see some things around here that we haven't been to in awhile, before Jamie has to head back to Europe in January.  Also, I want to relax a bit before I start studying for the bar exam.  So not looking forward to that, at all.

That's about it for now.  Hopefully everyone is enjoying their holidays!!!

    XOXOXOXO,
    K.

  • Back home again, in Indiana...

Well...we're back from our very quick trip.  We found an apartment (obviously, by the photos below) and had a chance to work a few days and get stuff straightened out for our move.  Turns out of visas won't be ready until around February, so we're not moving until them.  Jamie will be going back and forth for work trips, but I'll be here until after the bar exam in February...so really I won't be moving until March it looks like.  I'm really lucky that our company is giving me the entire month of February off so that I can study for the bar exam.  Plus, they're ok with me working part time in January when bar review starts.  So yeah...I'll be complaining on here a lot about the bar exam and moving, I'm sure.

Monday we barely made it in time for our flight out of Amsterdam.  Europe was getting a lot of snow and the trains weren't running on time (or at all, for some), so we were having to change trains at different stations throughout the way...it was a madhouse!  We finally made it to the airport about a half hour before our flight was scheduled to leave, so we managed to get on (and our luggage came too!)....I was pretty pleased about that.

Got home late last night, flight was delayed out of Chicago...kitty was happy to see us!  I really missed the little bugger while we were gone...she's a snot, but I love her.  Now is getting ready for Christmas, finishing the present wrapping, and spending time with the hubby.  I love the holidays!

    Merry Christmas everyone!

  • Because I love you...

I give you pictures of what might be our new place!  We went to visit 5 different places today and only 2 were really worth mentioning.  One of the two was completely unfurnished...it had and kitchen appliances, but that was about it.  Didn't even have lighting fixtures, so we would have to add a lot to that place (that being said, we would live there for three years, so we'd have time).  The second place was VERY much our style...2 bedrooms, 1 bath, single floor apartment (YAY, no stairs), and decorated in very much the same style as we decorated our home.  Since that's clearly the frontrunner in this search, I will leave you with some pictures.  We are planning on going back tomorrow to take better pictures, take measurements to make sure all our crap fits, and to plan for some IKEA purchases when we get back to the States.  And with that, I give you...Bromanshof!

    The guest bedroom/spare bedroom...

And some pics of the living room...

Obviously, we'd be adding our own personal touches, but so far, its a good start!  Plus...it includes heat and internet utilities (heat is the most expensive utility in the Netherlands), so that's fantastic!  Plus...plenty of windows for Lily to look out of...which is always nice.

    Thoughts?

    XOXOXO,
    K.

  • I suck...

Ok, so clearly I suck.  I never posted pictures of the places we were going to look at during this house hunting trip.  Everything just started getting busy so quickly, so I just never had a moment to post!

As of right now, I'm in the Netherlands, watching a demolition crew sink an old war ship in the Florida Keys for scuba divers.  I love the Discovery channel!  I got in this morning (about 1am Indiana/US time, 7am Netherlands time) and Jamie was waiting at the airport for me.  Getting through customs was super easy, so I grabbed my luggage and we were on ou way!  We got back to our apartment in Eindhoven around 9am, so I grabbed a quick shower and then climbed into bed to PASS OUT!  I don't usually sleep on flights (though I did manage to get about an hour of sleep on this flight), so I always try to take a nap when I get in from a flight in the mornings.

Tomorrow is our first day of house hunting!  I'll be sure to take photos and I PROMISE to post them.  Hope you all are doing well!

    XOXOXO,
    K.
